General Information

The Faculty of Technology at Simav was established by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2009/15546, published in the Official Gazette dated 13 November 2009 and numbered 27405. In accordance with the letter from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) dated 28 June 2010 and numbered 21404, during the Executive Board meeting of YÖK held on 22 June 2010, and pursuant to Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547 as amended by Law No. 2880, the following departments were established within the Faculty: Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Woodwork Industrial Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, and Control Engineering. With the addition of the Industrial Design Engineering department, established in 2014, the total number of departments increased to six. Subsequently, the name of the Manufacturing Engineering Department was changed to Mechanical Engineering in 2017, and the Energy Systems Engineering and Control Engineering departments were closed in 2021 by decision of the Higher Education Executive Board. At present, the Faculty comprises four departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Woodwork Industrial Engineering, and Industrial Design Engineering. Of these, the Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering departments are currently accepting students. The Faculty maintains its educational activities with a staff of 22 academic personnel and 24 administrative personnel.

The Faculty provides its students with access to a range of laboratories and workshops, including: within the Department of Mechanical Engineering—Nurhan Kazcıoğlu Practice Workshop (CNC Workshop), Mechanical Engineering Practice Workshop, Reverse Engineering and Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) Laboratory, CAD/CAM Laboratories, Energy Laboratory, Mechanical Testing Laboratory, and Physics Practice Laboratory; within the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering—Electrical Machines Laboratory, Electronics Practice Laboratory, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers Laboratory, Control and Automation Laboratory, and Computer Laboratories; and within the Department of Woodwork Industrial Engineering—Wood Products Industrial Engineering Practice Workshop and Wood Products Industrial Engineering Testing Laboratory.

The Faculty is situated 5 km from the town center, occupying a property of 231,312 m² with a total indoor area of 16,636 m². The campus features educational buildings, a dining hall, cafeteria, library, three conference halls, an indoor sports hall, outdoor football field, basketball and volleyball courts, tennis court, and other social and cultural facilities. Student accommodation facilities, including the KYK Girls’ Dormitory and the KYK Boys’ Dormitory, are located within walking distance of the campus.

The Faculty boasts a modern and technologically equipped campus that offers all necessary facilities to meet the needs of its students.
